Hello! Today I’m sharing a pair of cards I created using the Summer Cuddly Critters from Simon Says Stamp that I colored earlier this week!
I used prismacolor colored pencils to color the images and then used distress ink reinkers to watercolor vibrant backgrounds for my critters!
I started by stamping the Waves background onto watercolor paper with versafine and heat-embossed them with clear embossing powder. Then I added drops of mermaid lagoon, peacock feathers, and blueprint sketch distress ink reinker to my palette and added a drop of liquid pixie dust to each color. I painted each wave a different color and let it dry. You could use smooshed distress ink pads to create a similar look but I wanted that really vibrant color…almost like stained glass!
While that was drying I watercolored another panel of watercolor paper with antique linen distress reinker and added splatters of wild honey and spiced marmalade. Once both panels were dry I cut the wave background along one of the embossed lines about 1/3rd of the way down the panel and matched it with 2/3rds of the sand panel to create one card. Then I took the remaining two panels to create a second card and adhered both to a card panel.
I stamped sentiments from Summer Cuddly Critters to each sand panel with versafine and heat-embossed them with clear embossing powder. Then I added my critters and their accessories with foam mounting tape to finish each card! 🙂
