Good morning! I don’t know where you are but here in Virginia it’s ghastly hot and humid and I am dreaming of crisp fall mornings and chilly evenings! Though to be fair I’m pretty much always dreaming of cool weather!
Anyway, I’m channeling all my fall love into two cards featuring the fantastic fall release from The Rabbit Hole Designs! I just adore all the products in this release…plus foxes…my absolute fave!
My first card features Fall Foxes! I stamped and die cut the foxes and lots of leaves with the coordinating dies and then colored them with copic markers. I used shades of red, orange, purple, and yellow for the leaves and reddish browns for my foxes. I also stamped the sentiment from Fall Foxes onto black cardstock and heat-embossed it with gold embossing powder before die-cutting it with the coordinating dies and trimming the rest down to a thin label.
To create my vibrant background I blended Dried Marigold, Abandoned Coral, and Seedless Preserves distress oxide ink onto a panel of heavystock cardstock. Once it was dry I splattered it with water, iridescent shimmer spray, and metallic gold paint. While that was drying I die-cut some gold glitter cardstock with a hill-shaped die. I arranged all my images over the blended panel and adhered them with a mix of regular ATG adhesive, liquid glue, and foam mounting tape! I love the fun fall feel of this card!!
My second card uses similar colors but also adds in Scattered Straw distress oxide ink. To start I blended Scattered Straw, Dried Marigold, Abandoned Coral, and Seedless Preserves distress oxide ink very lightly over an A2 panel of heavystock cardstock. Then I placed the Falling Leaves stencil over the panel and blended the same colors with a slightly heavier hand. For these two layers I used a blending brush for a softer finish.
Then I changed the angle of the stencil, placed it over the panel again, and blended the same colors. This time I used a blending tool to get much more color and vibrancy from each ink. I varied where I blended the various colors to give the panel more interest. I let the panel dry and then splattered it with water and gold metallic paint. Then I let the panel dry overnight (though a thorough drying with a heat gun would work, too). The next day I placed the Falling Leaves background stamp over the panel at a third angle and stamped it with versamark. I heat-embossed it with gold glitter embossing powder for a super sparkly effect. I finished the card with a sentiment from Fall Foxes that I heat-embossed with gold embossing powder and layered over gold glitter cardstock.
I love how the two cards work well together yet are VERY different! But I love that color palette for fall cards and you’ll probably be seeing it more and more over the next few months…purple is such a fun addition to traditional fall colors!
Thanks so much for stopping by today and be sure to head over to check out the new release from The Rabbit Hole Designs! I’m sure you’ll love it as much as I do!!
