Good morning! Here’s my third card for the Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop! I’ve been incredibly inspired by Laurel and Catherine’s adventures with Color Burst powders and couldn’t wait to get my hands on some! I didn’t have a lot of time to put this card together but I did get to play with the powder and I will definitely be using it again soon!
This is one of those cards that I finish, look at, love, but think to myself, who made this?! Ha ha. It doesn’t really feel like me but I’m really happy with how it turned out!
I started off by taking a piece of watercolor paper and wetting it thoroughly. Then I took Alizarin Crimson Color Burst Powder and spritzed it onto the paper. As soon as the powder hits the water it immediately creates this super vibrant color! I used a damp paintbrush to blend it around for a more even coverage. I let it dry naturally while I worked on the rest of the card.
I die-cut two stitched fishtail banners: one from white cardstock and one from a dot-patterned vellum paper. I stamped the sentiment from Riley and Company in versamark onyx black and heat-embossed it with clear embossing powder. I also die-cut the coffee mug from Simon Says Stamp, pressed it into a versamark pad and heat-embossed it with Ranger superfine gold embossing powder.
I punched a hole in the top of the banners and then arranged them on the card and temporarily adhered them. I wound twine around the card, through the banners, and through the mug handle three times before securing it on the back of the panel with tape. Once the twine was secure I used foam mounting tape to adhere the banners to the card. to finish the card I added a few gold glitter enamel dots and then adhered the panel to a white top-folding cardbase with foam mounting tape!

Another fab card. Love the bold background mixed with the gold die cut (I’m hoping to get a chance to use it myself this week) and the vellum. Isn’t it nice how we can surprise ourselves? I noticed a card in the coffee blog hop gallery and thought ‘that’s a nice one … oh wait … that’s my own card’ lol.
