Today I was browsing through the collection and saw this gorgeous card by Lydia Evans and knew that I wanted to CASE it! I loved the idea of using a coffee mug as a vase for cheery spring flowers and it perfectly fits the theme of the hop! So here’s my interpretation! 🙂
I love the new Freestyle Florals stamp set from Mama Elephant and I decided to watercolor the flowers with the new Abandoned Coral distress ink (since it was already smeared all over my craft sheet for this card)! I heat-embossed it with Versafine Onyx Black ink and clear embossing powder and then watercolored the flower centers with Squeezed Lemonade distress ink and the petals with Abandoned Coral. I cut the mug from the die included with the October Simon Says Stamp card kit and paper-pieced the heart from a piece of leftover paper that I used to test the color before watercoloring the flowers.
I used Lawn Fawn patterned papers for the fishtail banner and background and mounted them onto a top-folding A2 card base. I cut the vellum for the sentiment with a Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles die and then stamped the sentiment with the same distress ink. The ink doesn’t always stamp evenly but I used the M.I.S.T.I. so I could stamp it a few times in a row with no worries that it would be off. I embossed it with clear powder and glued it to the card with dabs of Ranger Multi-Medium matte applied to the stitch lines and behind the words! 🙂
Thanks for visiting and I hope you’ll come over and see all the fantastic inspiration at the Spring Coffee Lovers Blog Hop. It runs through March 6th so you’ve still got plenty of time!! Many thanks to Amy for putting this all together!
