Good morning and welcome to another Shaker Saturday! Today’s card is a nontraditional shaker in that it doesn’t use sequins or seed beads! I know I know…it was hard to put the sequins down…but I did it! 😉
I LOVE these cute pups from Mama Elephant’s new release, Playful Pups!! I couldn’t wait to use them and they were perfect for today’s shaker card. I started off by stamping both the dogs and the tennis balls from Lawn Fawn’s Critters in the Burbs with Versafine Onyx Black ink and then I heat-embossed them with clear embossing powder. I colored them with copic markers and added wink of stella and glossy accents to the dogs’ noses and collar. I also freehand drew a beach ball with a copic liner and colored it with copics.
I blended salty ocean and mermaid lagoon distress ink onto a piece of Neenah solar white cardstock to create the sky. I used the Lawn Fawn Grassy Borders die to die-cut grass in various colors and heights. I adhered the grass to the background panel and then stamped the sentiment with versamark and heat-embossed it with white embossing powder. I tucked the brown dog amongst the grass and adhered him to the panel with my ATG gun.
Originally I was planning to put both dogs inside the shaker but after looking at the cute dog rolling around on his back I thought it’d be fun to put him on an action wobbler so he’d wiggle. I cut a frame using the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles die to create the frame for my shaker and then I attached the grey dog to an action wobbler and adhered him to the frame. The action wobbler was visible under the dog so I die-cut a few more pieces of green cardstock with the grass border die and adhered them around the action wobbler. It added a little extra dimension to the card and hid the wobbler which was just what I wanted!
To finish the shaker I adhered acetate to the back of the frame and then used fun foam to create the height for my shaker. I added the three tennis balls and the beach ball to the shaker and sealed it up. I love how the balls bounce around inside the shaker card. It’s a very fun and playful card and perfect for a dog-lover! 🙂
Thanks for visiting and have a great weekend!
