Now here’s a challenge I’m really excited about! This week’s Wednesday Challenge is to use watercolors in any way, shape, or form on a card! It’s a good thing that they limit you to only 5 entries otherwise I might not have left my craft room! These are my first entries into the challenge!
I used my Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolors for these cards. For the first card I painted the diagonal line with three different shades of watercolors before die-cutting it with the Butterfly Drift die set. I also used the same die set on a piece of black cardstock. I attached a strip of black cardstock onto one side of a white card base before mounting the watercolor background with foam mounting tape. Then I took the inside of the butterflies from the black cardstock and glued them inside the openings of the watercolor piece. Finally I stamped the sentiment from the Thank You stamp set with Versafine black ink.
On the second card took the black outline of the butterfly and attached it to a white card base. Then I took the watercolored butterflies and glued the smallest four directly into the black butterfly outline. I used foam mounting tape to attach the three larger butterflies inside the outline which gives them a little more dimension. I used another sentiment from the same stamp set to complete the card.
These were fairly quick to pull together and could be easily mass-produced with various sentiments and color schemes for a gift set or just to restock your card stash. I look forward to doing a little more experimenting with these watercolors this week!
