Well, two more decisions down…maybe…
…or maybe not.
I think I settled on a little more modern/angular sink:
I like the shape of this one better and it will also help cut down on splashes. I also think it will really pop against the dark wood cabinets and shelving.
Today, I spent 2 and a half hours browsing 11 different websites for possible light fixtures with very little luck. Originally I was overly concerned with finding chandeliers and island pendants (and foyer lights and ceiling lights and bathroom fixtures) that would match but I couldn’t find collections where I liked ALL of the lights. So I gave up….and again decided to pick one thing that really caught my eye and then base my decisions around that choice. A friend recommended that I check out the West Elm website…and I saw this chandelier:
It’s definitely a little out there…not traditional in any way but I really think it will go nicely in our dining room and something about it just really “speaks to me” (…and now I sound absolutely crazy…). Ha. Anyway, it’ll pick up the iridescence in the glass tiles without being too “matchy-matchy”. I’ll go with simple globe pendants for the lights over the island and recessed lighting in the kitchen. Originally I had planned for an overhead light/fan in the living room with cathedral ceilings but I may change that to just a fan with additional recessed lighting (and of course a table lamp or two).
