Good morning! I am so excited and honored to be a stop on the 1st Birthday Celebration Blog Hop for Studio Katia! Even though she’s relatively new Katia has made quite the impact on her first year in the crafting community! I had the opportunity to chat with Katia when we were arranging a collaboration for A Blog Named Hero and I love her cheerful, supportive, and generous spirit! And I am so excited to help her celebrate her first year! I hope Studio Katia celebrates many MANY more birthdays! 🙂 Here’s the shaker card I created for the hop!
This is definitely the opposite of a flat card but I love the dimension! I started by stamping the gorgeous peony from Thank You So Much onto watercolor paper three times and heat-embossed it with gold tinsel embossing powder. Then I watercolored it with carmine red and light carmine zig clean color real brush markers and a damp paintbrush. After I laid down the initial wash of color I added additional shading with the same markers. I knew I was going to be layering the flower so I only colored the layer I needed on each flower. Then I fussy cut each flower: once around the whole flower, once around the second inner layer, and once around the center of the flower. Then I went over the edge of the flowers with my RV23 copic marker to make sure there were no white edges. I adhered the the middle of the second layer of the flower with regular adhesive and then popped up the petals with foam mounting tape. Then I adhered the center of the flower with foam mounting tape. I love the dimension you get from layering the flower!
To create my shaker card I stamped the peony from Thank You So Much twice onto a panel of white cardstock and heat-embossed it with gold tinsel embossing powder. I also stamped the sentiment and heat-embossed it with the same embossing powder. Next I die-cut the inner rectangle from Dotted Shaker Tag 1 twice to create an accent around my sentiment. Before I created the shaker I lined up the panel on my cardbase and adhered the pieces I had die-cut onto the card base so they would show through the shaker windows once the card was finished. Then I adhered acetate to the back of the panel, built up a shaker frame with foam mounting tape, and filled it with the Majestic Fusion sequin mix! Finally I adhered the card base to the back of the shaker to finish the card!
Again, happy birthday to Studio Katia and many thanks to Katia for inviting me to be part of the hop! Best wishes for the years to come! 🙂
