Busy day on the blog! For the Simon Says Stamp Best Days Blog Hop please scroll down or click here!
Good morning! Today is the March release for Studio Katia and they’re celebrating with a big two-day blog hop and lots of giveaways! I’m thrilled to be guesting with them today and I’ve created a card using their darling Citrus Trimmings set!
I loved the cheerful look of that citrus border and thought it would be fun to try coloring it on a dark cardstock background with colored pencils! I’ve got a lot to learn about using colored pencils but I’m pretty happy with how this turned out! 🙂 I started by stamping the image with white pigment ink. Then I used a trick from my crafty friend, Emily, and put down a layer of white colored pencil before adding color. If you just color directly on the dark cardstock it will work but the colors won’t be as vibrant. Adding that white layer underneath really makes the color pop! I’m still learning how solid a layer of white to lay down first which is why it’s not totally smooth but I think that kinda adds to the natural texture of the fruit, right?! 😉
It took me so long to color the image that I didn’t want to detract from the coloring and instead just stamped the sentiment onto a piece of white cardstock with versafine and heat-embossed it with clear embossing powder. I trimmed it down and adhered it to the card with foam mounting tape. And now all day long I’ve been craving lemonade! 😉
To celebrate their release Studio Katia is giving away five $25 CAD gift cards!! Winners will be selected from the comments left across all of the blogs in the hop on BOTH days so make sure you leave a comment at each hop stop for the most chances to win! Also please follow Studio Katia on Instagram and Facebook in order to be eligible to win! Leave your comments before 11:59pm EST on Sunday, March 18th! Winners will be announced on the Studio Katia blog on March 20th! You should have arrived from Svetlana and Kaja is your next stop!
