Hooray!! The Best Days release is now available from Simon Says Stamp and it is FABULOUS!!! I’ve got a bunch of cards to share over the next few days but I wanted to pop in with a pair of cards using some of my favorite products from the new release!
The Oh Bunny set is SO cute!! I love those little bunny silhouettes! I thought it would be fun to make a pastel Easter card using a darker background panel for a little contrast! I started by lining up the first stamp on the lid of my MISTI. I inked it first with white pigment ink and stamped it on dark grey cardstock. Then I inked it with distress oxide inks and stamped twice over the white pigment ink. I used picked raspberry, spiced marmalade, squeezed lemonade, peacock feathers, mermaid lagoon, and shaded lilac distress oxide inks for each bunny. For the last two bunnies I used a baby wipe to wipe off one bunny while inking with the distress oxides. I blasted them with a heat gun to set the oxides and then added the two fluffy tails to the bunnies on the right. I used the little cotton balls that were included in last month’s card kit and trimmed the smaller one down for the smaller bunny!
For the sentiment I inked the stamp using the same distress oxide inks and my MISTI, wiping off the excess ink between each stamping. Once the whole sentiment was stamped with the various colors I inked it once more with versamark and then heat-embossed it with clear embossing powder. I die-cut the sentiment with a stitched fishtail banner and adhered it to the card. This would be an easy card to mass-produce for the holiday and you could easily leave off the two bunnies on the right as they took the longest since I had to wipe the excess ink off each bunny before stamping the oxides. You could also use this stamp design on white cardstock and just leave off the white pigment layer underneath! 🙂
My second card uses the gorgeous Bold Flowers set with an oldie but goodie technique that I haven’t played with in quite some time!
I wanted to create a loose watercolor-y floral design so I used distress inks and second generation stamping. I inked the large flowers with candied apple distress inks and spritzed them with water. I stamped once for the more solid image and then a second time for the speckly impression. Then I added the centers with barn door distress ink, repeating the same process. I added the smaller yellow flowers using mustard seed and wild honey distress inks. Finally I used bundled sage and forest moss for the greenery. After I was done stamping I let the panel dry and then flicked a little barn door distress ink across the bottom of the panel. Next I die-cut the panel with the new Thanks die and reserved all the pieces.
I trimmed the watercolor panel down and adhered it to a black panel with my ATG gun. Then I used foam mounting tape to adhere the thanks sentiment at an offset angle so the black would peek through. I used regular adhesive to adhere the insides of the letters directly to the black cardstock for a little dimension in the sentiment. Finally I added a few black sequins to finish the card!
This is just a SMALL sneak peek at the Best Days release and I highly recommend heading over to check out the rest of it! 😉
