Good morning and HAPPY STAMPTEMBER!! It’s finally time! Yay! If you’ve never had the pleasure of experiencing a Simon Says Stamp Stamptember you’re in for a real treat! All month long Simon Says Stamp will be presenting new releases, exclusive limited collaborations, blog hops, giveaways, sales, and more! Plus September is my birthday month so I always feel like Stamptember is an extra special birthday present to me! 😉 The Stamptember release is live so head over and check it out! 😉
I’ll be sharing lots of cards and videos all month long and I’m kicking it off with a rainbow bright card using a background stamp and sentiment set from the Stamptember release!
You can watch the video below or at my Youtube channel!
I just loved that sentiment from Together the moment I saw it and thought it was perfect in light of everything going on in the world these days. And I love the concept of this grid stamp (and all the stamp sets that go with it) and just thought it would be fun to start off with some simple distress ink watercoloring!
I started by stamping the Grid Play Grid stamp on distress watercolor paper with versamark and heat-embossing it with white embossing powder. I only inked the corner of the stamp to add some interest to the edge of the eventual watercoloring. Then I taped it to a hard board and smooshed distress inks in picked raspberry, festive berries, ripe persimmon, squeezed lemonade, twisted citron, salty ocean, and seedless preserves onto my craft mat and wet the watercolor paper. I used a damp paintbrush to add distress ink to my wet background to create a soft blend of colors. But I made sure to clean my paintbrush between colors to keep it nice and rainbow bright!
I added two layers of color, drying between each layer and then set it aside to dry. Once it was totally dry I added splatters of black distress ink and then let that dry while I worked on the sentiment. I stamped the sentiment from Together onto black cardstock with versamark and heat-embossed it with white embossing powder before trimming it down to a label. I added a layer of foam mounting tape to the back of the sentiment and then added a tangle of silver metallic thread. Then I put a second layer of foam mounting tape on the sentiment and adhered it to the card. I like separating the thread from the sentiment and the card panel with foam tape because it gives it a little more dimension and movement. Finally I added a sprinkling of sparkling clear sequins and a few dots of nuvo crystal glaze!
