Good morning! The Simon Says Stamp Cherished release is live and I’m back with another card and video to share! I adore the Floral Sparkle die and wanted to use it to create the look of a coverplate die!
Three videos in one week is somewhat of a record for me! I’m as shocked as you are but I really am going to try to do more videos and I’d love to hear what you’d like to see! 😉 You can watch the video below or at my Youtube channel!
And here’s where it got exciting! You’ll have to see the video for the details but I started out by adhering the sentiment in a strip across the card panel and brushed it with spectrum noir clear sparkle before adding a sprinkling of sparkling clear sequins. But as soon as I looked at the finished card I realized the sentiment was WAY too heavy for the delicate card. First I tried to trim the edges down to a fishtail banner but I couldn’t wiggle my scissors far enough to make that big a difference. So I knew I needed to remove the sentiment but I realized that pulling off the sentiment would probably result in a torn sentiment and damage to the white cardstock. So I brought my secret weapon: waxed dental floss! Technically I used dental tape (which is all we had) and dental floss is much easier but the tape worked! I wrapped it around my fingers as if I was going to floss my teeth and then carefully worked it under the foam mounting tape. It’s a slow process but I was able to pull the dental tape under the adhesive until the sentiment popped off! I used an eraser to rub off any letover adhesive and voila, no damage to the white cardstock and a fresh start! I trimmed it down to a much more delicate fishtail banner and adhered it back to the card panel, nestling it between the sequins!
And that’s it! I’d love to know if you picked up anything from the Cherished release! I’m excited to use the floral stamps next! That bird of paradise flower is calling my name! 😉 Thanks for visiting and have an amazing day!

Clever girl. This looks so much like the eyelet I had on a pinafore when I was a little one. Very nostalgic but made modern with the colors and the black sentiment.

I love this card. Clever to use the die all over and on top of a homemade distress background. Thanks for the tip on how to remove a sentiment. Question: what sequins did you use? I find sequins vary a lot and am alway on the look out for new ones. There are so many out there, and I couldn’t find the brand you used in your list below. Great if you could share. Thanks! Kerstin
