Good morning! The June Simon Says Stamp Card Kit: Fly Me Away is now available and it is stunningly gorgeous! There’s a ton of stuff in the kit that I haven’t even touched yet because I was so smitten with the gorgeous included stamp set, Beautiful Flowers! I’ll be back with more to share later this month but here’s a look at the first two cards I created using the kit!
For my first card I stamped the floral image using versafine and heat-embossed it with clear embossing powder. Then I used the same three watercolors: quinacridone red, prussian blue, and aureolin cobalt yellow that are included in the kit (though I used them from my full Daniel Smith palette). I wanted to show the range of colors you could get simply using red, yellow, and blue! 🙂 To mix them I added a drop of water to each dot and then pulled the color onto an acrylic block and mixed them together to get the minty green and shades of purple!
After I finished painting I let the flowers dry and then added a layer of spectrum noir clear sparkle for a little extra sparkle! I stamped the sentiment with versafine and heat-embossed it with clear embossing powder to finish the card.
My second card uses the same stamp set and the gorgeous new cardstock color from Simon Says Stamp, Peacock Teal, which is included in the kit (and also available for purchase separately)! I started by using my MISTI to stamp the floral image onto the cardstock with white pigment ink. I left the stamp on my MISTI lid so I could restamp later and added subtle shading with a white colored pencil. Once I was done I placed the panel back in my MISTI, restamped the image with versamark and heat-embossed it with clear embossing powder.
Next I stamped the sentiment onto the panel with versamark and heat-embossed it with white embossing powder. I stamped one of the flowers onto copic-friendly cardstock and heat-embossed it with white embossing powder. I colored it with copic markers in matching shades of teal and then fussy cut it. I added a layer of spectrum noir clear sparkle to the large image and then used foam mounting tape to add the individual flower on top.
I hope this gives you some ideas for the new Fly Me Away kit! Remember, you can subscribe to their no-obligation kits and receive them monthly for $29.99, or purchase them each month for $34.99 (while supplies last). This month, in particular, the oversize stamp set, texture fades embossing folder, and distress resist spray alone are basically worth the subscription cost of the kit alone…that’s not including the 8.5×11″ cardstocks, patterned paper, watercolor dots, and envelopes! I have a feeling this beautiful kit is going to sell out VERY quickly so if you’re interested I’d recommend heading over and picking up the Simon Says Stamp June Fly Me Away kit as soon as possible! 😉 Thanks so much for stopping by and have a wonderful day!
