Hello! I’m sneaking in with a late night post to tell you of the brand new ‘New Beginnings’ release from Simon Says Stamp that’s available right now! This release is full of gorgeous stamps, dies, inks and embellishments! Tonight I’m sharing a card featuring my favorite new set, More Spring Flowers!
Some of you may have seen me sneak these flowers on Instagram yesterday and I couldn’t wait to make them into cards! I started by stamping the flowers on to watercolor paper with versamark and heat-embossed them with white embossing powder. Next I used my zig markers to watercolor the flowers. I used dark pink and red carmine on the the left flower and sugared almond pink and peach pink on the right flower. I added a little color to the darkest area of the petal and then blended it out with a damp paintbrush. I used to use a waterbrush to do this but I’ve since learned that I have a lot more control of the color if I use a damp paintbrush instead!
I used the coordinating dies to die-cut each flower and then set them aside while I worked on the background of my card. I started by blending distress ink onto watercolor paper. From the top down I used spun sugar, picked raspberry, abandoned coral, and festive berries. I dried it with my heat gun and then prepped it with a powder tool. Next I stamped the foliage from More Spring Flowers and the older set, Spring Flowers, onto the background with versamark and heat-embossed it with white embossing powder. I also stamped the sentiment from HandLettered Encouragement onto vellum with versamark and heat-embossed it with white embossing powder. I trimmed the vellum down to a fishtail banner and then adhered it to the back of one of my flowers. Then I used a combination of regular ATG adhesive and foam mounting tape to adhere the flowers to the background. Finally I added a sprinkling of sparkling clear sequins to finish the card!
I’ll be back to share more cards using products from this release later this week but head over to Simon Says Stamp and check it out! My other favorites from this release are the beautiful new ink colors, the Starfish sequins mix, Hope Blooms, Somebunny Special, and Spring Seeds! Thanks for visiting and have a wonderful day! Happy shopping! 😉
