Good morning and happy Monday! I’m finally getting settled after my trip to Creativation and my craft room looks almost normal post make-and-take prep! Now I just need my FedEx boxes from Phoenix to show up so that I have random things I take for granted back, like my embossing powder tool and jewel picker! Anyway, I had a little time yesterday to get inky and, of course, I reached for my alcohol inks! 😉
I started by adding a few drops of alcohol ink blending solution onto a piece of yupo paper. Then I added a few drops of alcohol ink in pitch black, indigo, denim, purple twilight, and silver mixative. I tilted the paper around and used an air puffer to mix the inks around. I love how the silver mixative blended with the colors and created those silver swirls!
I deliberately allowed the ink to create a hard edge on the yupo paper and didn’t attempt to get it to flow to the edges of the page. While it was drying I stamped the buildings and sentiment from the Simon Says Stamp set, From the Rooftops, onto black cardstock with versamark and heat-embossed it with metallic silver sparkle embossing powder. I also stamped the speech bubble and sentiment onto white cardstock with intense black ink and fussy cut them.
Once the alcohol ink background was dry I adhered the skyline with regular adhesive. I added the sentiment banner and speech bubble with foam mounting tape. Originally when I was designing this card in my head it had more of a nighttime feel but I think the silver mixative almost gives it the feel of a summer storm! Regardless, it definitely gives me ideas for creating alcohol ink galaxies! 😉

I really like this night scene. I need to play with alcohol inks more. I don’t have Yupo paper but I have lots of glossy in my cupboard so I will just use that. I love the way you stamped the buildings too and then embossed with the silver. Perfect for a night scene.
