Good morning! I’m super excited to be a stop on the hop for the Simon Says Stamp You Are Loved blog hop!
Have you checked out the release yet? It’s fabulous!!! It actually went live last month but in the excitement of the holidays we decided to share inspiration with you after the holidays! 😉
|
I’ve already shared two cards using the new release here and today I’m sharing another card using the gorgeous So Loved set with colored pencils!
To start I stamped the flowers onto a panel of slate grey cardstock with SSS Barely Beige ink using my MISTI and then I left the stamps on the lid. Then I colored each flower with four caran d’ache luminance pencils. I laid down a layer of white and then used three shades of a peachy red to color each petal. I love the way these pencils blend so smoothly! And the best news: Simon Says Stamp now carries three sets! On a side note, I own and have used prismacolor and polychromos pencils but, hands down, the luminance are my FAVORITE! You can see another card using the luminance here!
Once I was done coloring I placed the panel back in my MISTI and restamped the flowers with versamark and heat-embossed them with gold tinsel embossing powder. Then I filled in the foliage and sentiment. I used the same gold tinsel embossing powder for the foliage and regular gold embossing powder for the sentiment! I love the pop of color and combining grey with gold! I’m looking forward to trying a similar card but with aqua and navy flowers! I hope this inspires you to try using colored pencils on colored cardstock for a vibrant design! And if you have any questions about the luminance pencils please feel free to ask!

Beautiful! I’ve been using my colored pencils a lot more lately—for accents over markers, on colored card stocks and to color tiny areas. I love the outline leaves cluster die in this release.

Jess I find the colours you used so very appealing, especially against the darker grey cardstock. I never would have thought to colour the image first & then use versamark & heat emboss. Plus, I’ve never heard of lumanence pencil crayons either. If I buy them will I be as good as you? lol Such a fabulous card & a great release.
