Good morning! I’m super excited to be a stop on the hop for the Simon Says Stamp You Are Loved blog hop!
Have you checked out the release yet? It’s fabulous!!! It actually went live last month but in the excitement of the holidays we decided to share inspiration with you after the holidays! 😉
|
I’ve already shared two cards using the new release here and today I’m sharing another card using the gorgeous So Loved set with colored pencils!
To start I stamped the flowers onto a panel of slate grey cardstock with SSS Barely Beige ink using my MISTI and then I left the stamps on the lid. Then I colored each flower with four caran d’ache luminance pencils. I laid down a layer of white and then used three shades of a peachy red to color each petal. I love the way these pencils blend so smoothly! And the best news: Simon Says Stamp now carries three sets! On a side note, I own and have used prismacolor and polychromos pencils but, hands down, the luminance are my FAVORITE! You can see another card using the luminance here!
Once I was done coloring I placed the panel back in my MISTI and restamped the flowers with versamark and heat-embossed them with gold tinsel embossing powder. Then I filled in the foliage and sentiment. I used the same gold tinsel embossing powder for the foliage and regular gold embossing powder for the sentiment! I love the pop of color and combining grey with gold! I’m looking forward to trying a similar card but with aqua and navy flowers! I hope this inspires you to try using colored pencils on colored cardstock for a vibrant design! And if you have any questions about the luminance pencils please feel free to ask!

Gorgeous coloring on the gray card stock! I have tried this a few times, and it really is amazing how rich the colors are on darker paper. It is time consuming and a bit tricky to keep it all lined up. Your work is amazing and DOES continue to inspire.

This card is absolutely stunning. I also took a peek at the blue poinsettia card you linked to. If this is any indicator of the effects you can create I will get these instead of the Poly Chromosome. Can you buy individual colors separately? Just thinking how quickly I would use the white up.
