Good morning! I’ve got a quick card share today using a stamp from a new-to-me company, So Suzy Stamps! 🙂 I’ve been admiring Ruby’s guest posts at So Suzy Stamps and decided to do a little shopping…I really had to rein myself in, the sentiment stamps are so cute! Anyway, since Ruby inspired (*cough* enabled) me to buy the stamps I thought it’d be appropriate to use one of those sentiments today since we’re also announcing the winner from our first Crafting Cues collaboration! Here’s my card:
I LOVE that sentiment and it is absolutely gorgeous heat-embossed with gold tinsel embossing powder! 😉 I started off by stamping the background stamp from My Favorite Things with versamark and heat-embossed it with white embossing powder. Then I used just one Zig Clean Color Real Brush Marker (dark pink) and a waterbrush to color all of the flower petals. I realized later that there are actually leaves in the stamp…but I decided they worked as just petals…they kinda remind me of ruffly sweet peas!
I posted this before and after photo on instagram over the weekend to show how easy it is to blend with the zig markers:
I’m certainly no expert at shading (actually I’m kinda awful at real shading) but these markers make it so easy…it’s literally as simple as adding a swipe of color and then blending it out with the waterbrush. Maybe not the most artistically correct way but it works for me! Once I finished coloring the background I added a little gold paint from my Finetec palette onto the open spots. I also diluted some of the gold and painted it randomly over a few of the flowers. Next I die-cut a vellum panel with the Avery Elle Wonky Stitched dies and then stamped and heat-embossed the sentiment from So Suzy Stamps with gold tinsel embossing powder. I used Ranger multi-medium matte and vellum tape to adhere the vellum to my card front and finished it off with Medallion gold sequins from The Ton!
I actually created this card with the intention of sending it to one of my very creative former music students who just started college and I hope she likes it! Ha ha, I also tried watercoloring and faux calligraphy on the envelope….so fingers crossed that it actually makes it to her!
Anyway, on to our giveaway winner! Ruby and I were blown away by your kind and encouraging comments on our first Crafting Cues collaboration! We had a lot of fun with the first one and look forward to another one later this month! Our random winner of a $20 gift card to Jerry’s Artarama is Karen Ladd who left these comments on our blogs:
Karen, please contact me and I’ll get that out to you ASAP! Thanks so much for visiting and have a fabulous day!
