Whew….well I managed to get a few more cards in for the Winnie & Walter Birthday Bash Challenge. I had hoped to try for all the challenges but this strep throat really knocked me out this week…*sigh* But I did finish a card for the shaker challenge, distress ink challenge, and gradient challenge! Here they are:
For the shaker card I wanted to use bright and cheery colors. I used the Scenery: Triangled Creative Screenings stencil and blended on distress inks in Dried Marigold, Squeezed Lemonade, Picked Raspberry, and Mowed Lawn. Then I went over the stencil with translucent embossing paste. While the paste was still wet I sprinkled it with Distress Rock Candy stickles for some fun sparkle. After the background dried I built the shaker using frames cut from the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle die set. I filled the shaker with pink, orange, yellow, green, and sparkling clear sequins from Pretty Pink Posh. The sentiment was cut from The Big, The Bold, and The Happy set and heat embossed with ultra high clear embossing powder. The word ‘birthday’ was stamped from the same set with Versafine and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.
I wanted the second card, fulfilling the gradient challenge, to be fairly CAS and really focus on the colors. I used only the stamp set, The Big, The Bold, and You. I used my M.I.S.T.I. so that I would be able to keep the large word aligned through multiple stampings. I used three shades of teal Simon Says Stamp and Hero Arts dye inks wiping parts of the word between each stamping. The rest of the sentiment was stamped with Versafine and then to finish the card I added a couple teal pearls and trimmed the bottom edges. After I took the photo I realized that the word ‘you’ isn’t quite straight…argh…
I think my last card might be my favorite…this was for the distress ink challenge. I used Picked Raspberry, Dried Marigold, and Squeezed Lemonade. I used the Big Bang Confetti set to stamp the diamonds in distress ink. Then I die cut the panel with the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle set. I stamped the sentiment in Versafine from The Big, The Bold, And You set and added a couple more diamonds also stamped in Versafine. To finish the card I added a black frame cut from the SSS Stitched Rectangle set and adhered it to a black card base. It’s hard to see but I also went over the sentiment and the black diamonds with my Wink of Stella clear glitter brush.
I’m a little disappointed that I wasn’t able to get a card in for each challenge but I am pleased with what I was able to do! Here’s a link to my first two Winnie & Walter Birthday Bash Challenge cards: Color Combo challenge and Mood Board challenge!

Love them all, but the Thanks card is my favorite. I’m a HUGE fan of CAS cards, and my MISTI is finally on it’s way and should be here early next week! I can’t wait. And then I can try the gradient stamping! Yeeha!

Thanks Cheryl! You’ll LOVE your MISTI! I rarely make a card now where I don’t use it! I’ll be interested in knowing how you like the screen-printed cover…I have one of the original laser-cut covers and I think I like the idea of the screen-printing better…
